Kids' Consignment Sale

Well, I'm a convert.
Shopping garage sales can be pretty time-consuming, especially if you have to take your kid(s) in and out of their car seat at each stop. And you can devote a lot of days, okay, years, searching for particular items with no success.
I will probably still garage-sale for enjoyment now and again, but for real shopping, I've converted to a consignment sale goer.
Yesterday I went to the Jack and Jill Kid's Sale in Chatty. It was held in an old Office Depot building, so think HUGE, and filled front to back with everything kid-related: Toys, highchairs, car seats, bottles, cribs, mattresses, bedding, blankets, clothing, more clothing, a lot more clothing, books, shoes, bwah!
The company that runs the sale inspects each item to be complete, in good condition and clean, so the junk is already weeded out for you. And there are a handful of these sales in our area each fall and spring, so I don't have to buy for kids' sizing a year or more in advance as with garage sales. There will always be a consignment sale just in time for the next season. That can save us some serious storage space.
And the best part. Get this-- on the last day of the sale, most things drop to 50% off the original consignment price. Yesterday was just that day, so the consignment sale price became the garage-sale price.

Here's what I scored for $38:

3 cute girl flannel blankets
7 long-sleeve, brand-new white onesies
Gap winter overalls for our girl
Children's Place girl's long-sleeve onesie
boys' wool striped sweater
white newborn sleeper
duck halloween costume for Henrik (Can't wait. He loves ducks.)
4 girl knit pants
2 long-sleeve striped shirts
girl sweater and pants set
2 fruit-feeder cup thingies
baby food mill
4 bassinet sheets
potty chair
small portable potty seat
bottle warmer
Circo crib skirt (brand-new in pkg)
changing table cover

And I drove to one place, on one day. So not stressful. So much fun. There is another this weekend... and it is the MOMS OF MULTIPLES SALE! Hoping for some good gear for the twinsies... :)
