My friend Ginger just organized an exchange of home-made activities aimed at 3-4 year olds, using the ideas from the ebook Preschool Activities in a Bag, available at activitybags.com.
Here's how it worked: I made 10 sets of 3 puzzles, brought them to Ginger's house (I missed out on the party aspect of the exchange because Ben was out-of-town) and the next day picked up my assortment of 10 different activities, each prepared by a different participant.
The bags will be easy to store, and each activity is reusable, substantial, and adaptable to different levels of development. In another year or so, these will be really fun for Henrik to play with.
This would be a great activity for a group of friends, church moms or homeschool moms to do together. It was satisfying to collect our bags of goodies and to think of how helpful the work I did will be for other busy moms.
